Out of the Mouths of Babes

The point of this blog is to find and share that which inspires us in hopes that it will do the same for you.
Seeing this Ted Talk with 11 year old Birke Baehr, now 14,  made me incredibly hopeful for a new generation.  I truly believe that what parents can't do for themselves they can do for their children.  Seeing a child of this age with so much knowledge to share about our food system not only inspires me but gives me hope that a shift is happening.
Living in Los Angeles, there is a large amount of the population that is concerned about our food, how it's made, if it's modified, and what is in it.  We have amazing farmers markets here almost every day, and pretty much everything grows well in California.  So we are a little spoiled.  But I truly feel that this idea, of being conscious of our food,  is expanding now throughout the world.  With our planet in turmoil, and with a host of cancers and other illnesses plaguing our society, people now more than ever are starting to take a look at what they ingest on a daily basis, and if this can be the cause of much of our ailments as well as our planets.  I am truly excited to see someone as young as Birke planting his mark, no pun intended, and making a difference.

  1. Thanks for sharing my message. I did this talk when I was 11 and since then have continued to advocate for a more sane food system. -Birke Baehr www.birkeonthefarm.com
